When do I need a franchise valuation??
- WHEN YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT VALUES AND PRICING AND ARE A NEW BUYER OR SELLER
- WHEN YOU MUST GO THROUGH A DIVORCE (AMICABLE OR NASTY)
- WHEN YOU NEED TO PASS ON THE FRANCHISE TO YOUR HEIRS - ESTATE PLANNING
- WHEN THE BANK OR YOUR INVESTOR NEEDS IT
- WHEN THERE IS PARTNERSHIP DISPUTE OR THE BUYER AND SELLER CANNOT AGREE
- WHEN YOU ARE THINKING RE-INVESTMENT FOR A REMODEL OR RE-LOCATION
- WHEN YOU WANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO RETIRE ON (STRATEGY)
- WHEN YOU WANT TO DIVERSIFY INTO ANOTHER BRAND AND ASSESS YOUR “BUSINESS VALUE”
- WHEN YOU ARE IN TROUBLE WITH YOUR FRANCHISOR OR IN TERMINATION
- WHEN YOU ARE JUST FED UP AND WANT TO GET OUT
- WHEN BUYING INSURANCE OR AFTER A DISASTER (FLOOD, TORNADO, EARTHQUAKE…)
- WHEN YOUR FRANCHISOR REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE AN ACCOUNTANT’S “COMFORT LETTER”
There are many “rules of thumb” out there on the streets for every franchise brand; yet from where I sit, I hear of horror stories from the very people who used these crude methods. They mainly failed to ask the right questions and adjust their values accordingly. Others failed to buy their franchise of choice because of their unpolished approach.
When you know you need help, you should make the effort to find it.
